Scrumptious Peas
Original Art Nouveau wallpaper for the first time in production!
Background
This original Art Nouveau wallpaper with elegant flowing lines carries the enchanting yet unpolished quality of the works of Dutch designer avant la lettre G.W. Dijsselhof (1866-¬¬1924). When rediscovered by The Capybara Papers we instantly knew that this design was ready for the 21st century. While the original from 1898 was produced in black and white with a touch of red, we decided to use colors of this gone-by decade in a modern twist.
Gerrit Willem Dijsselhof
G.W. Dijsselhof is considered to be one of the most important artists of Jugendstill (Art Nouveau) art. Due to his early experimental book designs, interior batiks and furniture designs, he can even be regarded as a precursor of the movement. Next to being a painter, he made interiors, furniture, book covers, textiles and much more. Clearly influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, and especially the English decorative artist William Morris, his subjects were nearly always related to nature. One of his favorite spots to ‘hang out’ was the aquarium of the Zoo… We at The Capybara Papers are fan of this multitalented Dijsselhof!
This classical, ornate and captivating wallpaper gives a chique atmosphere to all spaces.
Available in the colors black, duck egg blue, garden green and multicolor.
